ABOUT THE SHOW
Ellie MacPherson is oddly obsessed with the Presidents of the United States.
Having spent far too much time memorising the presidents in chronological order and going to Presidential museums, she knows more than any human should about the lives of the men (ugh, yes, all men) who have led the United States. Now, as self-appointed envoy from New York, she combines her unique wit and incredible vocal talents to create a fun, and funny, cabaret classroom that is…more than a little sexually charged.
From Washington to Lincoln, Obama to that orange guy with bad hair, Ellie delights with her knowledge of powerful dudes such as the president who saw aliens, the president who married his own ward, the (more than one) president who couldn’t read, and asks ‘How do these idiots keep getting elected? And why does she STILL LOVE THEM?’
Join Ellie and her band The Secret Service as she chronicles the weird, human sides of the Commanders-in-Chief. Happy Birthday, Mr. President! features sensational anecdotes and lesser-known trivia underpinned by a variety of music from Dolly Parton to Radiohead, Tina Turner to Taylor Swift and old-school rap to classic country.

EDINBURGH 2022: Ellie MacPherson Q&A
Broadway World UK | JULY 1, 2022
I think the Fringe is the place to come with shows that don't fit a particular box. My show is part comedy, part cabaret, part history talk, part rock concert. It is almost impossible to categorise. To me, the Fringe is a space where folks can take their strange new show and get it up in front of intelligent audiences who are willing to be surprised.
EDINBURGH 2022 Five Relevant Questions: Ellie MacPherson
ON THE MIC UK | June 22, 2022
Teddy Roosevelt had a pet hyena. Calvin Coolidge liked to start his day by getting Vaseline rubbed on top of his head. Jimmy Carter went on record as seeing aliens. These are not normal men and we’re just like “yeah sure put them in charge of our large standing army.” This show charts just how weird they are and why I’m so attracted to them. I’m not well in the head.
About Ellie
Ellie is currently a cast member of the New York company of Mischief Theatre’s international smash hit The Play That Goes Wrong. She has headlined New York City’s top cabaret venues including Feinstein’s / 54 Below and The Green Room 42. She is also a professional voiceover artist and a Fellow of the Witness Institute, a prestigious program for emerging leaders to continue the legacy of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel.
Ellie comes from a military family but unfortunately found theatre too early to follow either of her parents footsteps into the service. She’s been performing since she was 5 and in therapy since she was 16. She’s lived all over America and don’t ask her where home is because she doesn’t know. (She was born in Kansas though!) She went to Rutgers University and graduated with a Bachelors in English and History and then got herself further in debt by attending the New School for Drama’s MFA program in Acting.
If she wasn’t doing this she would probably be a minister. Still could happen!
She is not the Australian supermodel. She is significantly shorter and 100% more American.
